The benefits of fighting for the American Boxing Organization ABO.
By: ABO Staff
June 16, 2026
The American Boxing Organization (ABO) is reshaping the regional boxing landscape in the Americas. Based in Waukegan, Illinois, this non-profit entity is the only sanctioning body globally governed by former world champions and Olympians. With official sanctioning recognized on BoxRec, the ABO provides a vital and transparent steppingstone for fighters looking to build their legacy.
A Grassroots Revolution
Founded to give underrepresented talent a fighting chance, the ABO focuses on bridging the gap between local circuits and the elite tiers of the sport. Unlike many organizations plagued by obscure rankings, the ABO’s leadership utilizes their firsthand in-ring experience to responsibly rank contenders and match them for regional and intercontinental titles.
The BoxRec Seal of Approval
In the world of professional combat sports, a fighter's legacy lives and dies by the BoxRec Title Search directories. Recognizing the need for ironclad credibility, the ABO officially partnered with the BoxRec database to record all of their championship bouts.
now, the process is the following.
Promoters, managers must within 30 days submit a request for a ABO sanctioned fight. Boxrec will determine if the bout qualifies for a title bout providing the ABO, State Regulators and BoxRec guidelines.
Also, the promoter must submit a letter requesting a ABO title bout within that time period to the American Boxing Organization abochampion@gmail.com.
All title bouts are subject to approval from the State, Region, ABO and Boxrec.
So, contact abochampion@gmail.com for sanction opportunities.
